I believe that the marriage of ideas from different sectors of life, leads to creative and non-traditional possibilities. My intention is to develop distinct objects that are both intuitive and engaging, which speak to the concepts of movement and portabilitya common thread found throughout my work.
I hold a Master of Design in Designed Objects from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communication from Northern Illinois University. Prior to attending graduate school, I worked as a senior designer and design manager creating corporate communications.
During the 2006-2007 school year, I was a teaching assistant for the SAIC class Introduction to Furniture Design. That same year I was selected as a finalist in the Industreal sponsored First Cut Competition, which was held to promote designed objects that utilized laser-cutting technology. My entry was featured at the 2007 Salone del Mobile in Milan, Italy.
In 2008 I was a participant in the GFRY Design Studio, a special two-semester design course that culminated in the exhibition 18%GRAY. This exhibition showcased light as a tangible and formable substance and was presented in Milan at the Fabbrica del Vapore during Fuorisalone 2008.
I am currently a member of Object Design League, a new organization that intends to promote experimental and independent object design in Chicago, Illinois.
